The background

Victorian women aren’t sufficiently active, with only half getting enough physical activity per week.

VicHealth’s research told us that women continue to participate less than men in sport and physical activity and whilst understanding the health benefits it isn’t motivating enough to get them out and getting active.

It’s the fear of being judged that stopped women from being physically active.

A staggering 52% of Victorian women worried about being judged while  exercising for:

  • Appearance (embarrassed for looking frumpy, red faced, sweaty, overweight etc)
  • Not having the skills, coordination
  • Feeling guilt for prioritising themselves over family, for example.

The behaviour:

Victorians aren’t active enough. The problem is even worse with women, who often avoid being active because of a fear of judgement.
